Overview
Part II of the final project for this course is the creation of a media recommendation presentation.
It may be hard now to imagine a time when digital social media did not exist. But in fact, social media giant Facebook was only founded in 2004. Add to that the
current plethora of new media technologies available to communicate about ourselves and our businesses. As a result, work and personal worlds have become
decidedly smaller and faster. This course, as part of a new media concentration, will introduce you to some of the most used new media platforms and encourage
you to explore them as well as those that are emerging and poised to take the stage. In this new world, your business or organization (or even you) will rely—at
least in part—on delivering important messages to your audiences via new media. As a communications professional, you must learn to use, choose, and leverage
the proper platforms for the proper situations.
The second part is a presentation in which you will apply the new media technology you studied in the first part to a
company or organization, and then make recommendations for how to use that platform to achieve communication goals.
In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes:
• Demonstrate informed, ethical, and professional applications of new media technologies, taking into account consequences of digital and cloud-based
technologies on privacy, content, and security rights
• Make recommendations for the appropriate choice of new media platforms based on users’ communication goals
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
I. Provide an overview of the company or organization and its goals. Be sure to include the area(s) you plan to focus your recommendations
on.
II. Provide an overview of your chosen new media technology in relation to similar companies/organizations. For instance, how has this platform
been used before and to what effect?
III. Make recommendations for specific ways to apply your platform to your company or organization’s specific goals and
concerns.
IV. Create examples of your recommendations using your platform.
V. Show how your examples address any privacy issues that could arise from your recommendations in relation to ethical and professional new
media usage.
VI. Show how your examples address any content and security rights issues that could arise from your recommendations in relation to ethical and
professional new media usage.
Final Project Part II: Submission
In Module Eight, you will submit a media recommendation presentation. You will submit a minimum of 2 papers in an application of your choice and it must be accompanied by speaker notes as if presenting on a power point. The presentation should be based on the research gathered and reported in your media
recommendation submitted in Milestone One in Module Five.
It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final
product. It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course.
