In this assignment, you are asked to apply self-determination theory to describe the motives underlying something that you do. Describe a specific activity or behaviour that you do now that was once done only because you were told to do it by an external authority (examples from previous classes: knitting, exercising, riding, baking, playing piano, and my favorite: eating peas). Please be specific in describing the behaviour.
Using the continuum of self-determination discuss three issues:
1. analyze where you fall now on the continuum from Extrinsic to Intrinsic motivation, use the terminology from the chapter, and explain why.
2. describe how your place on the continuum has changed over time, for example making a transition from extrinsic to intrinsic regulation.
3. is it possible to make the behaviour even more intrinsically motivating? Be specific about how to increase the intrinsic motivation and try to tie it to needs for autonomy, competence, and/or relatedness. Utilize the provided sources.
